Herb Fixler has been a photographer for much of his life. Over the years, his work has become focused on painterly color, graphic black and white, and infrared imagery. Although he is largely self-taught and is in a perpetual state of photographic learning and experimentation, Herb has had the opportunity to work with and learn from many of the finest teaching professionals on today’s photographic scene.
Herb hopes to engage viewers of his work by bringing them into his images and stimulating the viewer's curiosity about them.
Herb’s subject matter is extremely varied including land and seascapes, portraiture, street photography, and wildlife. His work has been exhibited in numerous single artist shows in Manhattan dating back to 2003. He has also had his work included in multi-artist exhibitions at the Salmagundi Club, the National Arts Club, and other venues. Herb's work is included in many private collections and business and corporate installations.
Herb has created this website in order to share with you a sampling of the many images he has made over the years. He hopes you enjoy his work and that you will return to his website often, as he frequently updates it with new images.
Artist’s Statement
I hope you will find my photographic work to be unique, personal, and artistically appealing. My subject matter is varied, and I experiment with styles and textures so my work doesn’t just reflect a single look. In addition to including monochrome, color and infrared photographs, my body of work contains images that are highly saturated and others that tend to be desaturated. Some images are highly detailed and/or high contrast and graphic, while others are soft and impressionistic. The goal of my work is to help you feel the emotion I felt during the image capture.
